Applications of Large Language Model (LLM) in Politics and the Public Sector : Expectations and Limitations of Generative AI
Abstract
The rapid development of generative AI is having a significant impact on society and is being integrated into all aspects of daily life. This study examines the evolution of AI technologies, with a particular focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), and explores how AI-based solutions are being used to improve efficiency and service delivery in the political and public sectors. Drawing on case studies from the United States, Singapore and India, the research highlights how AI tools are expanding electoral strategies and strengthening citizen engagement. The study also addresses challenges such as bias in AI applications, the spread of misinformation, and regulatory concerns, while assessing related ethical and governance issues. While generative AI has great potential to foster democratic development and improve public services, its sustainable and appropriate use requires policy responses based on transparency, fairness and accountability.
