This study explores ecological factors such as demographic and sociological factors, employment related factors, mental health factors, disability and health factors that affect the employment of people with disabilities. The regression analysis was conducted using the 2016 Disability Employment Panel Survey provided by the Korea Employment Development Institute for the Disabled. According to the results of this study, among the demographic and sociological factors, gender, presence of spouse, and social participation affected employment. Based on this, it was concluded that having a family had a positive effect on the economic independence of the disabled. As for the employment-related factors, education levels, certificates, experience of using public employment service or private employment service, and the experience of having had neighbors’ help with finding employment were found to have influence on employment. Based on this, it has been concluded that the social role of educational institutions should be recognized, and the access to educational institutions should be improved. As for the disabilities and health factors, the degree of disabilities, subjective health status, daily life helper, and whether they consume alcohol or not influenced employment of the disabled. Based on these findings, this study argues that the disability policy needs to be restructured around economic independence and employment that form the basis of social inclusion and independent living.

본 연구는 장애인의 취업에 영향을 미치는 생태학적 요인들, 예컨대 인구·사회학적 요인, 취업관련 요 인, 정신적 건강요인, 장애 및 건강요인을 탐색하였다. 이에 한국장애인고용공단 고용개발원의 2016년 장애인고용 패널조사를 활용하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 이를 중심으로 연구결과를 정리하면, 인구·사 회학적 요인 중에서는 성별과 배우자 유무, 사회활동참여가 취업에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이 를 통해 가정을 이루어는 것이 장애인의 경제적 자립에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 취업관련 요인 중에서는 학력과 자격증, 공공취업서비스 경험, 민간취업서비스 경험, 주변인의 취업알 선 경험 등이 취업에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 정신적 건강요인 중에서는 우울감 인지와 일상생 활 만족도가 취업에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 교육기관의 사회적 역할 및 접근성이 매우 중요하다는 사실을 파악할 수 있었다. 장애 및 건강요인 중에서는 장애정도와 주관적 건강상태, 일상생활 도움제공자 유무, 음주여부 등이 장애인의 취업에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이러한 결과를 토대로 장애인의 취업 및 경제적 자립을 위한 방안을 제언하였으며, 더불어 장애인정책 이 향후 사회통합과 자립생활을 증진할 수 있도록 경제적 자립을 촉진하는 방향으로 재편되어야 함을 주장하였다.
